A couple weeks back, I did a shoot that ended up being so dear to my heart. I have loved music forever. I grew up with a rock n roll dad who inspired me to sing, write and become familar with all instruments and a mom who loves to write and express herself through writing. I've been singing since I could talk and writing since I could hold a crayon so joining 2 things I love, photography and music, was really special.

I didnt know Amy and her husband before I got to their house. Amy's sister gave this shoot to them as a gift so I never personally met either one of them. The minute I walked in, I felt so welcomed. As I traveled back to the room I would be doing the shoot in, I passed Amy's studio with guitars, pianos, records, and much more evidence of a musician, I was so inspired. Their little darling baby girl struggled for a little while getting comfortable in front of the camera, but with all of our 6 gental hands, one set of paws, and the heater turned up to about 85 degrees, we finally warmed her up...literally :-). This had been a big week for this family. A new baby was born, and their little furry companion was diagnosed with diabetes and quickly and unexpectedly went blind. Life can be so hard to digest sometimes, but this family is doing beautifully.

I love how every shoot can be different. They are never cookie cutter. I'm learning more and more with each one, how to make it personal and unique. I love when my clients tell me that our shoot was so different than they thought it would be and that I made it special for them, something that they will remember, even outside the pictures that will be on their walls. Makes me love what I do even more.
